Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football and volunteering for the community. First, the Selmon familial. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. They raised nine children on a Eufala farm. Also, he was one of three siblings who represented Oklahoma on the field of football. The three brothers all made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. Also, they won the national title twice. A third scholarship saw him named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon holds a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy spent ten hours per week volunteering throughout his time at college. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Additionally, he started a career in business. He was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top 10 outstanding youngsters throughout the United States. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 pounds. He coached his university team in the year 1975. In 1993 he was appointed associate director of the University of South Florida. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame by his fellow members of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, as well as The Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented their Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
