Allison Chinchar works as a forecaster of weather for CNN as well as HLN. She regularly appears on CNN's HLN Weekend Express and CNN International's HLN New Day Weekend. Prior to joining CNN in June 2015, she worked at many local radio stations such as those in Atlanta as well as Nashville. She reported on hurricanes, blizzards, and storms and also flooding, wildfires. She was honored with an Emmy for the coverage she gave of Dorian, a hurricane that struck the Bahamas. Her coverage of the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 2011, during which more than 350 tornadoes were recorded in the Southeastern United States over a time period of four days, 200 of these that occurred on the 27th of April was nominated as well to win an Emmy. Her experience being an ecoscientist allowed her to cover stories regarding climate change and natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanoes, etc. Chinchar is a graduate of the Bachelor's program in Atmospheric Science, which she received from The Ohio State University. She is also a member of the American Meteorological Society, the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society as well as the National Weather Association, and the International Association of Broadcast Meteorology.
