Selena Marie Gomez (/s@/li:n@/ 'goUmez/s@–LEE/ GOH-m (born July 22, 1992)) was an American performer, actress, and producer. Gomez began her acting career in 2002 in the popular children's television series Barney & Friends. When she was a teenager, she became famous for her role as Alex Russo on the Disney Channel television show Wizards of Waverly Place (2007-2012). Gomez was also a part of the television series Another Cinderella Story (2008) and Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie 2009, Ramona and Beezus (2010) and Spring Breakers 2012, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016). In 2019, she will appear on The Dead Don't Die (2018). Gomez was also the voice of Mavis in Hotel Transylvania's films from 2012 until 2022. Gomez through July Moon Productions, executive produced 13 Reasons Why (2017-2022) and Living Undocumented (1919). She also executive produces and stars in the HBO Max cooking series Selena + Chef (2020-2022) as well as the Hulu mystery comedy series Only Murders in the Building (2021-present). The latter series earned Gomez not only praise from critics but also nominations for an Golden Globe Award, and as a producer in the series, and a Primetime Emmy Award . Gomez was part of Selena Gomez & the Scene and released three albums. Each album was in the top 10 on the US Billboard 200. They were all certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. Stars Dance, her debut solo album, became a huge success on the U.S. Billboard 200, while its lead single, "Come & Get It" made it to the top ten on the US Billboard Hot 100. Gomez's second studio album Revival (2015), debuted at the top of the charts in the US and was certified platinum by the RIAA, and spawned three US top ten singles: "Good for You", "Same Old Love", "Hands to Myself". Rare (2020), Gomez's third studio album, was her third consecutive top 10 album in the US. The single that was the lead single, "Lose You, to Love Me" is also the first single to top the charts in the US. In 2021, she debuted the Spanish-language EP Revelacion and received a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album. She has received various accolades and was named Billboard's Woman of the Year in 2017 She also set fifteen Guinness World Records. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people in the world in 2020. Gomez is a social media influencer and is the most followed actress and musician on Instagram. Gomez also ventures into makeup, handbag, and fragrance. She has collaborated with numerous charities and has served as a UNICEF ambassador since age 17.
